I am inspired by my coastal surrounds and by the seasonal migrating birds which, for me are like music in the sky.

I initially trained as a production potter fifty years ago and hold a deep respect for the ‘Mingei’ philosophy - Beauty in simple, everyday things.

Today, I create small bodies of work, often adding the ash from local hardwoods to my glazes. I work with both stoneware and porcelain clays which I fire to 1280 degrees in a reducing atmosphere in a gas kiln.

I am forever testing glaze-over-glaze and finding the further I go, the wider the Alchemy spectrum!
