Brooke grew up exploring the coastal regions of the Mornington Peninsula (VIC) and has since spent several years in the Sutherland Shire (NSW).

Her work typically features the Mornington Peninsula and the East Coast towards Sydney, areas to which she has a personal connection. Recent work also features areas around the Murray River and Echuca, an area of childhood significance.

Brooke generally works with seascapes and wave formations, looking at the naturally occurring patterns of the water. Working primarily with watercolour and gouache, Brooke uses masking and other techniques to guide the pigment while allowing organic movement of watercolour on paper.  Exploring the scale of the human form against the landscape as seen from above, each piece incorporates minute forms identifiable by the shadows they cast, emphasizing their insignificance in the space.
